How in the hell did I make it easier for myself to be a victim? Because I was courageous enough to come out of the closet in high school?
You're making it seem like I wanted to get beat up? I really dont understand your blaming the victim. When somebody comes out, they hope for acceptance, expect tolerance, and fear violence. Again, a gay person should not have to live in the closet, its inhumane. You are actually saying that I was partially in the wrong for being open about being gay? How is being open about your sexaulity a cause for being the victim of violence?
Not in the wrong, but you should remember that violence is a possibility and take care to not put yourself in a bad situation. If you want to be courageous then you are admitting that you are willing to confront fear of pain, danger, uncertainty or intimidation.
well, it's a messed up society. I would teach my children to be more accepting of others. That being said, I tried to keep my sons away from sex with females until they were of age.
Not sure what the parent manual says for pole smokers. I think I'd have had them throw you a beating myself.
No, but if a woman wears revealing clothing and gets drunk in a place with dangerous men then she has increased her chances of bad things happening. If a person takes up with an abusive person then they have increased their chances of bad things happening. Some times it takes a predator and a potential victim for something to happen, so you don't blame the victim for the crime but the victim sometimes, just sometimes, takes an active role in getting into trouble.
One thing to remember, a bully will look for a victim, and if you're smart you'll try to not be an easy target.
Ever since I bought this vehicle, EVERYONE lets me go first at stop signs. No question about it.
Oh man, that things nothing. I got my running shoes on and I've been practicing the Navy Seal Approved/Tae Bo tested Zig Zag Xtreme method.
Oh damn, I pulled a muscle. Don't shoooottttttt
I love general, hindsight blanket statements. Shoulda woulda coulda, why deal with the attackers when we can reprimand the victim?
Why deal with the attackers if you can cut your chances of being a victim down to a minimum? You'll never knock them down to zero but make them low enough and you'll likely never have a problem. Look like a victim and every bully and thug will home in on you like flies to poo. And that's at a bar, work, home or street.
Generally a person becomes a victim because some piece of crap figures he can get away with whatever it is he wants to do to the person.

... why deal with the attacker? Really? They're called "attackers."
Once again, the world is not black and white. There are tons of situations I can look at you and say "you're right. That person should have been smarter."
There are tons where the victim could do NOTHING to change their victimization. Does it upset you to believe that sometimes, the attacker is going to go OUT OF HIS WAY to cause trouble? And furthermore, that sticking up to these guys can make the situation worse?
