Here are the actual statistics:
http://www.police.co.nassau.ny.us/na.../pdf/TOTAL.pdf

Year-to-Date ending 2/1/2012** (meaning over the last year up to that date Mike, not in one week )
Total Crimes
2009- 3,171
2010- 3,118
2011- 2,491
2012- 2,980

As you can see, total crime from last year is about in-line with historic crime stats. It's actually down about 5% since 2010. All fear-mongering.

As far as comparing Nassau County (1.3 Million people) to NYC, it's not even close. 1 of NYC's bad precincts (eg- East New York/Bronxville) has more crime than all of Nassau. It's like 10x the amount of crime as a whole.

The first column is by week then 28 day period and finally year to date

My bad, misread that. But still goes to show crime is lower this month than in 2009 and 2010 YTD up to this month. Where are the yearly totals? Looks like crime was actually a little higher before Mangano even started making any changes to the NCPD. So where are your stats? And what have you proved? Because by the looks of it, crime is down overall since Mangano took office.

The 7th is staying open and the 1st is closing. The 7th however will be renamed the 1st.

What is the plan then for the first precinct? Are they knocking down the house and building something or is the brick building gonna be a community center. Anyone have any clue as to what's going on. Mandingos sign is still in front of the old house.

"Following the next realignment on July 1, the Fifth Precinct in Elmont will then be absorbed by the Fourth Precinct in Hewlett 60 days later. The last realignment will see the First Precinct in Baldwin absorbed by the Seventh Precinct in Seaford".

Nassau's Initial Precinct Realignment Completed - Wantagh-Seaford, NY Patch

This goes against the sign you saw, so who the heck knows what the plans are. Either Patch is reporting wrong or the county is not communicating their plans very well.
