Sadly I agree, this is silly (I'm familiar with both and had the "pleasure" of living in one).

Maybe Jamaica Hills/Estates but not South Jamaica in any way shape or form.

Don't let the Amityville Horror get to you're head people.

Edit: I need to start reading the dates on these things lol.

Phife gave the shout out in 'We got the Jazz' and he used to spend a lot of time in the area but he pretty much claims Queens from my understanding. Prince Paul also hails from Amityville btw. Other notable Amityville HS alum include Mike James (NBA player) and AJ Price (East Massapequa - NBA player).

iv been through every single one of the areas, and their not even close to as bad as South Jamaica man..I LIVE ON TERRACE AVENUE in HEMPSTEAD, and even THAT cant compare to some spots in south jamaica..south jamaica projects and baisley park projects are friggin warzones for bloods and crips and what not. long island is much safer..plus i know people in North Amity, and even they say southside is worse

I cannot beleve the town of babylon wants to throw more money at N Amityville. they closed down the "Corner" years ago. Some new business moved in and found no profit there. The closed up shop, what makes the town think the can attract anyone to that area.

Much of that was due to Rite Aid closing down and that had much more to do with the national economy and Rite Aid's fiscal problems nationwide in 07 and 08 than anything else.

I don't know what any of you guys are talking about. I have lived in N. Amityville, Wyandanch, Deer Park, and N. Babylon. I have worked in Westbury, Copiague, and Farmingdale. I had to walk to where ever it is I had to go and you know what everyone on LI pretty much minds there own business. If you don't mess with them they wont mess with you. Plus if you look like your out of place most people will think your police. I'm female and I can walk to where ever and not get bothered. You guys are refurring to the way things were back in the 80's. I may have only been a child then but I do remember how bad it WAS. It's not like that any more. You may have one or two crazies out there but mostly everyone keeps to themselves. As for NYC I can't comment on that because I haven't been there in so many years. But when I was there, it's a beautiful place. I wouldn't want to live there because to me it's too crowded. That's just me. But I would really like for all of you to stop bashing LI and NYC. Unless you've lived there all of your life you have nothing to say.
