Nassau county cops are basically security guards for the rich people of NC. They'll get away with murder because of this. Such people are unlikely to be dues paying ACLU members.

I'd love to hear about you getting assaulted in one of NC's ghettos, of which there are many, and then screaming for the cops. Forget the lotto, forget world peace, forget etc etc etc - thats what I'd ask for.

It must've been over a decade ago. All 4x4 were considered trucks (SUV didn't exist yet) back then and the following sign was at the entrance to each parkway and was taken literally:
Soon after the SUV came into existence, a second sign was added to the bottom that stated "No Commercial Traffic".
I had a similar issue on the Belt Pkwy years ago, but with out of state plates drove off with a warning.

in fact the pathfinder ,bronco,trail blazer,explorer ,cherokee have all been around around since the 1980's and allowed on parkaways.

I suspect he is talking about pickup trucks. The SUV we know as today were almost non existent back in the days. I do remember open flat bed pick up getting ticket on the parkways
Before 2000 pickups were not allowed on parkways unless they had a cap. Without a cap they needed to be registered as commercial.
Still today no commercial pickups allowed, or for that matter a passenger plated pickup with anything in the bed (protruding from) that is not recreational in nature.
In 2009 I got a $125 fine on the WSP for carrying a dresser in the back of my passenger plated ford ranger.

I've been driving 4x4's longer than you have. My first 4x4 was a K5 Blazer and it was considered as a truck upwards of the early 80's. In the 80's there was nothing on them remotely that felt sport or recreational. All the small utility trucks had a requirement similar to the first minivans that allowed them to be classified as non-commercial (I think it was 89 when the laws started changing). It had to have windows on all sides and first/second row seating. Also pickups were allowed on the parkways if they had a rear facing bench in the bed (how do you think the Subaru Brat was made legal to drive everywhere?) and/or a windowed bed cover.
Your list of trucks is not comparing apples to apples. Some were small and some were large. The early full size ones were pulled over on the parkways because they looked commercial. Drive out of NY/NJ and there was no distinction. Now back to the thread where the OP thinks a AWD is the same as a 4x4.
I don't know why everybody is arguing about the parking at this place ..Cars,trucks ,bikes and motorcycles can park there , no one is getting stuck !!! its graveled perfect for all vehicles . the parking pass generates MONEY , period ...
