There was an article in last Friday's Newsday saying that Fairway Market will open a store next spring in Lake Grove, I think it's going to be in Loemann's Plaza, between Babies R Us and DSW Shoes. This news makes me VERY HAPPY!!!

When are any of these places (Trader Joe's, Whole Foods or Fairway) coming to Babylon ?

Because we need more supermarkets here right? The traffic nightmare that surrounds the mall will only get worse, just what we need!

Good news. Plenty of grocery shopping options less than 10 minutes drive and now another top notch one.

The cats already out of the bag, might as well get better quality options to drive to in bumper to bumper traffic.

Interesting, as there is a Trader Joe's a 1/2 mile around the corner. Both quality stores, but I guess they cater different products.

I like Trader Joes, there are certain things I really like (their salsa in particular) but what they've done is mostly marketing genius.

They've branded themselves as this hippie health food store, but most of their food is not organic, and the guy who runs Whole Foods went after them saying they are "questionably sourced", ie, just a supermarket that puts a hippie spin on everything.

I think Fairway is pretty similar, with more organic choices and more of a big supermarket feel, and less of the packaging gimmickry.

Fairway is superior to trader joes. They carry everything trader joes does, at better prices, usually (except organic chicken) and fairway has a much larger selection, more organic and lots of high end specialty foods.

I prefer Fairway over Whole Foods (especially their olive oil bar. mmm...). I like Trader Joe's (their Mandarin orange chicken is great). I wish more things would be a tiny bit more east. The corner of Horseblock and N Ocean Ave is getting a Stop n Shop gas station. Not sure we need another one in that area, but we'll see.

Yeah, it thins out quickly. I'm near the mall. 10 minute drive I have: Pathmark, Waldbaums, Shoprite, 2 Giuntas, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Aldi, 2 Stop and Shops, Bj's, Costco, Uncle Giuseppe's..and soon Fairway.
