Then he has a bad driving record or needs a new insurance broker. that is false.
Clean driving record. We both have the same insurer with geico for 20+ years. Just accept nyc residents generally pay more for insurance. Zip code matters.

Yes but perhaps ppl on LI are already living here to retire here. I am.
Some leave, some don’t. By that time, my house will be paid off anyway
We retired early here as well. Cary NC was a nice place, but just not for us. Lake fishing will never replace ocean fishing for me and I am looking forward to teaching my youngest. One of the things I missed most about LI was heading to the beach on a whim. In NC even though it is 2 hours away, it was something to plan for. Big difference between the drives.
Of course there were other things that brought us back as well, but don't want to drone on.

you are correct the OP is wrong, I am an insurance broker and I see the difference between someone in queens, NYC or even Brooklyn and someone In Nassau with regards to the difference in insurance rates. Now granted if you have a bad driving record or bad credit no matter where you live it will be higher. But I have customers with clean records living in queens paying more than someone with a clean record living in Nassau.
^ zip codes, accident reports, value of car, credit score all matter.
The only way you can compare apples to apples is everything has to be the exact same across the board. Which is next to impossible. But yeah you can get an average.

This was 10 years ago. I lived in little neck went to change my address for my car. The rates where probably $600 more a year. I kept the car insured at my moms house in Nassau.

same here..I've traveled to many states but have not found decent pizza or bagels..I read somewhere that it has to do with the water that's used in the dough and in the boiling of the bagels

It really can't be the water because LI uses a different source than NYC.
And good bagels DO exist outside the Northeast, you just have to find a place that knows how to make them.
