I registered for the vmware nsx class. I actually use this technology at my job. I did first module. Can you learn yes, will this class give you the tools to pass the vmware certification, hell no. Will it give you a base to take a a class that can lead to certification yes. Downside employers don’t care that much about certs. They only matter when you have work experience and a certification is then a bonus.

Many hands on trades such a plumbing, welding, HVAC service, etc have a certificate degree. And many times it leads to a solid career.

Very true. However, you aren't going to get any sort of job in those fields, strictly by taking a computer course. You have to have a basic understanding of how to use hand tools, to start with, and be willing to get your hands dirty. Actually do a little work!!
