Let me just clear some confusion, this list is based off rankings on important lists, test score and grade averages and ratings among reputable sources. This list will comprised of only public schools.
Is this a list you are compiling yourself or something that was published somewhere else? I'll be looking forward to it either way!
My son finished second grade in the Three Village School District - Setauket Elementary. It is a wonderful school and a wonderful district with many extra curricula activities and resources.
1. Great Neck South
2. Jericho
3. Cold Spring Harbor
4. East Williston (Wheatley)
5. Manhasset
6. Great Neck North
7. Roslyn
8. Half Hollow Hills West
9. Syosset
10. Port Jefferson
11. Half Hollow Hills East
12. Garden City
13. New Hyde Park (Herricks)
14. Northport
15. Plainview/Old Bethpage
16. South Merrick/Bellmore
17. Elwood
18. Sea Cliff/Glen Head (North Shore)
19. Smithtown West
20. Stony Brook/Setauket (Three Village)
No offense, but that list is horrible. (And I live in a district you have ranked in the Top 5) Just going by the districts in my area, everyone considers Commack and Harborfields vastly superior to Elwood, Northport or Smithtown. Go look at the test scores, college placement or any other real measurement.
Try getting special education services for your child in some of those districts, even smart people sometimes bear children with learning disabilities. If I kept my 8 year old in Port Jefferson School district, he still wouldn't know how to write, he's 21 now.
Don't let the published numbers fool you.

This actually made me laugh aloud for a quick second. Though I agree Harborfields is better academically from a statistical point of view, "vastly" is stretching it, especially since a fair amount of families I know chose Elwood over Harborfields for various reasons, primarily its smaller size (which translates to smaller class sizes). It is slightly academically superior to Northport (not sure about Smithtown), and I'm curious which "test scores" and "college placement" stats you're referencing, what organization released them, and when that Commack ahead of Elwood and Northport because the general consensus would say that Commack is to Elwood/Northport as Harborfields is to CSH.

Half Hollow East and WEst are the same school district-they are different high schools in Half Hollow-
Who's putting together this list? You? If so, what is your qualification for putting together this list?
