I'm back in the search for houses...I have found two houses that I'm interested in, Lynbrook SD# 20 south of merrick rd, near the morgan days park and the other house in Mineola SD# 10, both are a few blocks away from the LIRR. Can someone please give me an advice which would the best choice? Obviously taxes in Lynbrook are much higher than in Mineola. Does it really worth the expense? In reference to the schools issue, I don't have kids but definitely would prefer to make the best investment as possible. Thank you very much for any ideas!
inichka, you can find out in which community (city, village or CDP) the houses you are lookng at are actually located, which is oftentimes different from the community named in that house's mailing address, by using the Census Bureau's online address search function. (CDP or Census Designated Place is the Census Bureau equivalent for a hamlet in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.)
And, very importantly, among other things, the Census Bureau's online address search function also indicates in which school district an address is located.
Yes, the Census Bureau's online address search function shows that the 11 Maine Avenue address to be in the Hamlet of Lakeview, with a Rockville Centre, NY 11570 mailing address and in the Malverne Union Free School District.
