Can someone suggest what route to take from Plainview to Hudson Street on the west side of Manhattan? We need to be there by 9:45 and assume there will be trafffic.
1. LIE to midtown tunnel to FDR, wrap around lower Manhattan to west side highway?
Just take midtown tunnel and drive the streets, rather than going all the way to the fdr and westside hwy. Midtown tunnel lets you off around 32nd street or something...just drive across town and down a bit. It's not that far.
Train is probably your best best although if you have to drive, hope this works for you.

I never drive into Manhattan during rush hour, but wouldn't driving from midtown over to the village be a real pain? I'd think LIE to BQE to the Williamsburg or something..but then again, that might be the worst option in rush hour.

Whatever you do, leave around 7Am.
If I am not mistaken, Chelsea starts @ 27th street?
How about the Tri-borough bridge and then West-side highway in Manhattan?
