A lot of people do like Johnny Rebs in Long Beach, but a true BBQ affecianado would probably go and pick up a take out order from LBQ's in Long Beach.

Johnny Rebs(Long Beach, Bellflower, etc) is popular, but probably on the same level as Lucille's as far as quality. Good but not great.

Agreed. I had Lucille's not long ago. It was good, but I was a little dissatisifed due to the price and the hype.

Exactly, for the price of Lucilles you could goto a higher class BBQ restaurant like Wood Ranch and have better quality food and service.

Food there was terrible both times I went. Really just a place to hang out or meet friends. Not a place to go if you are hankerin' some really good barbeque.

Chris and Pitts in Downey is OK.

Lucille's is pretty good. It is expensive and there is a long wait most times, but I think once and a while it's worth it. The service (in Brea) has always been great.

Aside from my BBQ, Carolina style (vinegar base) which is loved by the circle of friends, I would have to suggest Les Sisters here in Chatworth! I've been to Kansas and Texas on business trips in the past and lived in the Carolinas. I've been to a lot of BBQ taste-offs and festivals. I've been to the BBQ places here in LA and there is not one place I like. I like Les sisters BBQ, but it falls short. But not by much. I would so to Les Sisters than any other place, including the Bear Pit! I thought it was very sub-par! I was dissapointed!
