Hi I am 23 year old male and I was moving to LA. I found a apartment and it seems nice, but not knowing the area really well I don't know if it is. Heres the address.

2619 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90057

I would be living there with my 58 year old mother would it be a safe place for her to be or would she get mugged at night. I am just trying to find a decent 2 bedroom for less that 1500 is that possible this place is 1400. Is it good or bad rate it 1 to 10 on safest and all around area please...

the westlake/macarthur district of LA has one of the highest 1st genearation latin immigrant populations in the entire city. it's very dense and crime and gangs are definitely an issue. i wouldn't live there even i spoke fluent spanish.

Not knowing exactly where the 2600 block of Wilshire is I will trust BRinSM advise. If it is near MacArthur Pk it is likely dangerous due to gang activity. There used to be lots of drug activity in that area also. Recently there have been many demonstrations that have gotten violent due to the police shooting an illegal alien. Lots of frustration in that part of Los Angeles. If you are interesting in Wilshire Blvd it might be better to look further down the street just beyond Lafayette Park or Koreatown.

I'm thinking the Westlake area might be kind of a shock for you and your mother.

Looks like it's the Royale Wilshire. 2 blocks East of Hoover.

I would NOT move there if you don't know the area, and since safety is a top priority. There is a lot of crime around there; there's also a lot of interesting things and tons of street life (including plenty of the illegal variety), but I think you'd really want to know what you were getting yourself into before you move there. If safety is a top concern you can certainly do better.

Not a good area. Maybe an exciting adventure for a 23-year-old, but I wouldn't move my mom there.

Is South Fontana anything like East Pasadena? Barrio?

What are you? white male from smaller quieter place?

That area isn't the most dangerous part of LA but I definitely wouldn't be comfortable. Theft is common around there and a number of derelicts from downtown wander there. plus as others have mentioned gang activity and it may also be the most densely populated part of LA.

on a 1 to 10 with 1 being the most dangerous and 10 being safest i'd rate it a 3. of course during the day it's not that bad, you're right by southwestern, but couldn't advise walking around at night

if you want a 2 br for 1500 there are safer (though nothing amazing) places.
