I am going to check out an apartment in Inglewood tomorrow. It's very close to where I will be working next month, and according to crimemapping.com (a great resource I discovered here on the city-data forums) it has a fairly low crime rate.

NEWSFLASH: It's not hard to find a good part of Inglewood. (I refer to SFR living, apartment living may be different)

I grew up in LA and man I used to LOVE going to my uncle's house in Inglewood. He lived in a tree street lined, beautifully manicured family neighborhood in Inglewood. I used to get jealous of my cousins who lived in such a nice area (and I grew up in Lawndale so at that time, I lived in a pretty decent area, just in a townhouse). Not all Inglewood is high crime and unliveable. My other cousin lived on LaBrea in a nice house - but on a major street.

My best friend lives in Hollywood and at one point I was thinking of moving back to LA. I thought about renting an apartment in Inglewood and she says she would never come see me if I did. Even her husband says that's ridiculous and he's never really been through Inglewood.
