We were only there a few times, but yes, I remember it well, it was before any SeaWorlds.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I do remember visiting there as a kid, along with the exhibits, I loved how it was right next to the ocean.

Because it was so long ago, I get Marineworld mixed up with Pacific Ocean Park. I think POP was in Santa Monica.

Add to it the fond memories of the TV series "Sea Hunt." Scenes were filmed at Marineland.

yep, POP was an amuzement part and Marineworld was the first "sesworld" type attraction. Yes, it has been quite a few years or decades ago. When in high school and later home from college in the summers we loved to go to POP.

And then there was the place that I recall best of all among the long departed places one visited to enjoy themselves; the Long Beach Pike.

worst Sunburn I ever had was the last time we did the Long Beach Pike. I was home from college (in was the summer before I met my husband) and my girlfriend (as fair as I was and still am) decided to go to Huntington beach for the day. After laying out, using cocoa butter to get a pretty tan, for 2 or 3 hours we realized we were getting a little toasty. We picked up our stuff, hopped in her car and headed to the Long Beach pier for some rides, maybe meet some guys and do the girly stuff. Well it didn't dawn on either of us we could get just as burned walking around as laying out. The rest of the story isn't very pretty. And no, we didn't meet any cool guys that day.

Yes I remember Marineland! My parents took us many times when we were kids. I've never been to the Pike - it was probably gone before I was born, but that's where my mom and dad met each other! I guess all good things must eventually come to an end.

Same as someone else said, I know we went there as kids, but I was so young I dont remember anything about it. Funny because I remember going to the Pike in Long Beach but not Marineland.
