I am moving to LA around the first of the year.. I hope... I will be working in Century City but not sure where I want to hang my hat...

I have been looking around and it seems that anything between $4,000 and $8,000 a month will get me something equivalent to what we are used to.

Right now I am considering Malibu,Santa Monica, Venice, or Marina Del Ray...

As you can tell I want to live by the beach, it would be really nice to be able to walk around my neighborhood. Not totally necessary though.

We currently live in Atlanta and I am used to having to drive everywhere, like restaurants, grocery, blah blah... But in the same sense I am spoiled because we have always lived close to all the necessities, like a grocery store down the street and such.

At any rate, can anyone give me some insight to those areas ? My sister lives in Venice and is somewhat opinionated on where she lives.

during the hours you would expect to commute. Beach areas to/from Century City might be rougher than you want for commuting.

Sounds like Santa Monica would be perfect for you. It's near the beach and loaded with every amenity and convenience you coud possibly need. The area north of Wilshire is the most desirable. However, Neilson Way has some nice places (e.g. Sea Colony) closer to the beach itself.

I'd say Santa Monica since it's very close to Century City, where you'll be working. Santa Monica is awesome too, and I'm sure you'll love it.

Beverly Hills, north. If you can swing a $4000 - $8000 mortgage, Bev. Hills will be the place you outta be.

Thanks everyone for the information....

Actually I think we have narrowed it down to Santa Monica and certain parts of Venice..... to quote my sister, " If you want to live at home with nothing to do, go to Malibu... With families in a semi interesting neighborhood, Santa Monica... or eclectic and walk to everything.. Venice.... "

We have two small dogs and a true loft (not loft condo) or house is what we are looking for so wish me luck I think...

i would definitely rather live in santa monica than venice with that price range. there's more of a chance to find a loft there also.

... misspelled Westwood.

Venice can get bad after dark.
