Across the street, they added 5 guys burgers at Fox Hills Mall (or what use to be Fox Hills).

Places like the Grove, new Santa Monica Place, the Century City mall that got renovated. I think lifestyle malls have hurt places like sizzler.

Well that explains it. I live in the South Bay, so it is Del Amo or South Bay Galleria.

While these malls are in movies from time to time most notably Jackie Brown and the Savages (except it was called South Coast Galleria) they pretty much suck.

The busiest Sizzler in the chain is located in Murrieta. It was the first location to get the new look. They still have the same old menu though.

Only a certain type of sit down restaurant.

Changes in ethnic demographics can't be ignored as a factor for why places like Sizzler have declined in popularity (and not just amongst the ascendent ethnic groups in California) in addition to the issue of cost and quality.

Hometown Buffett is usually busy if I go there. There's one in westchester, a few in the valley. The food there is marginal?? They're not winning Michelin stars.

A place like Outback beats Sizzler by miles in terms of quality and selection. Although you may have to wait a long time (45-50 minutes).

Even more perplexing than Sizzler is Souplantation? I've never seen the appeal there. Can you really make a meal just on a salad bar, and a little bit of soup or pasta?

Yes you can. I actually have not been there in about ten years, but when I was there last, I was very satisfied with their health-conscious selection of edibles at a reasonable price.
