I see what you're saying but it's the dominant class that tends to promote the dominant ideas in society. These ideas don't spring up out of nowhere. I tend to agree with Antonio Gramci's cultural hegemony theory, you should look it up.
Americans tend to act like the concept of class is outdated or something.

A.) Never heard of people tanning because they want to look Mexican. It's mostly out of wanting to have a healthy glow.
B.) It's quite common knowledge that in the third world there are creams that make one look lighter skinned and that colonization has led to a mentality that lighter skin is better. How do you not know this? I mean this is mainly what I was talking about.

You don't need a PhD in Sociology to understand this concept.

in some countries, glutathione is worth more than gold. They ingest it, inject it, put it in cream form, soap form, all for that "healthy pink glow" :lol:
