We used to live within walking distance when I was a teen ager, and it was the beginning of the parade route. Years later, hubby and I lived in Glendora; we got as close as we could to the end of the parade. The parade isn't as nice toward the end, too many breakdowns. but it is much less crowded as well.

You can also see more on TV. People interested in seeing the floats up close can go the day after to the Rose Bowl and see them.

When we get "whacked" there won't be advance notice.
