Taco Trucks are to L.A. like hot dog stands are to N.Y.C.

Taco Trucks are the BEST! My all time L.A. favorite Mexican food spots are "Tacos El Gavilan" in Huntington Park and Las Fuentes in Reseda.

Titos Tacos is excellent and there is The Garden of Taxco in West Hollywood 1113 N harper. It has been there for something like 50 years. Enjoy!

Oh and Las Fuentes is very good as well. Los Toros in Chatsworth is good too. It has been there for about 45 years. The original portion of Los Toros was a bunk house for a huge ranch. It has great history.

A word of advice.

If you are looking for any "hole in the wall type joint" you better pay close attention to the Heath Department lettering system in the window, or on the wall.

Do not eat anywhere that doesn't have an A.

If there's no A around a B will do.

And Never, ever eat in anything less than a B. If you see a C - Run.

In 90027?

Besides Yuca's, try El Chavo on Sunset. Superb food and decor. Not recommended for homophobes but homophobes wouldn't feel comfortable in 90027 anyways. BTW heterosexuals are perfectly welcome there.

As for Tito's, the cat meat scare was back in the '80s. IMO Tito's is a place you would appreciate more if you grew up eating there for the familiarity of it. I don't know how much non-native west side people would appreciate it. As another poster said the taco trucks are where it's at and can be found in every part of L.A. albeit some more than others.

I guess people go to Tito's more for the tradition because the tacos themselves are nothing to write home about. I mean, they use these extra thick Taco Bell-style shells! If you're going to make a crispy taco, at least use a real deep fried corn tortilla!

People are recommending a place that participates in this travesty??!!
That's it. I'm in a bad mood now.

Almost all the best Asian places in the SGV are a B. I don't know if this applies to Mexican food but I have a hunch a lot of the best Mexican joints are a B too. B for Best!
