Have you noticed that the Evening Talk Shows have all left LA and are now filming in New York? (After Jay Leno left The Tonight Show.) Originally they were in LA because that is where the stars lived so it was easier to get the stars to show up and promote their movie or TV show.

While some of the Hollywood Stars still have homes in or near Beverly Hills, I get the impression that many of them spend very little time there and prefer to live in New York City. Maybe they think that LA is going down hill and New York is now the place to be.

So, have Hollywood Stars abandoned the Greater LA area? And if so, why?

don't know anything about the stars, but what kind of idiots would think "LA is going down hill"??? actually…what kind of idiots think that LA is in NY's shadow (the only thing i can think of in NY's shadow is Central Park with all those insanely tall think gazzion$$$ condo silos casting an endless shadow over it).

Many so called Hollywood Stars may have a home in California but many spend the majority of their time in New York.

Maybe because so few films and TV Shows are shot in California anymore and they like living in New York better now that they don't have to be in Southern CA anymore.

Your evidence for these claims is rock solid.

I doubt it. At the end of the day a mansion in Beveryly hills, Hollywood hills, Bel air, Brentwood is much nicer too look at than anything you'll find in NYC.

C'mon now.

Not really.
Compare the traffic that one would have to deal with getting around from those places to where they live and hang out, especially from Brentwood and other areas west of the 405. The traffic isolates people in Los Angeles, due to the lack of alternatives to it, far more than in New York.

I think plenty of celebrities prefer to be "isolated" from the public and to be perched somewhere along the ridge of the Hollywood Hills is as good as anyplace for that. Lots of options east of the 405 as well.

Yes, as a matter of fact, they left Los Angeles in 1957.
