Can you help settle this argument?

I parked to the left of this sign at 6:05pm on a Sunday. The curb was unpainted. At 6:34pm I got a ticket for "In violation of LAMC 80.56E1 WHITE ZONE" -- "No activity/Unattended NPV"

I've gotten 3 different opinions from my armchair parking law expert friends:

* Friend 1: You can contest: On a Sunday loading zones do not apply in LA

* Friend 2: You cannot contest: Loading zone applies regardless of day

* Friend 3: You might be able to contest: the curb was unpainted, and the signage says nothing about "permits exempt" so the NPV citation is incorrect

Who is right?

Strictly looking at the sign you are in violation as it says passenger loading only to the left 6pm to 2am with a 5 minute limit.

Friend 1 is right in what he said but that does not apply to passenger loading, it is freight loading, yellow zone. Even then, it may be overridden by a sign which this sign did.

The sign has too much going on for me.
I would just park anywhere but there .

It's like you need a PhD in parking to figure these things out

Parking to the right, passenger loading to the left. Pay the ticket.

Pay the ticket. YELLOW loading zones are free Sundays because they're designated as commercial loading zones, and Sunday is traditionally a non-business day. White loading zones are for people-loading and are enforced 24/7

The OP exceeded the 5 minute limit. That zone is open only from 2AM to 6PM.

This one is right. Parking after 6 on the right, passenger loading on the left. You can park before 6 p.m. but not after.

Haha. I'm the same way. We have signs like this on the east coast and I always say "forget it". Those signs are ridiculous.
