I have no intentions of moving there, and I have never been to LA, but met a girl from LA last night (she was actually a Canadian who lived in LA for 7 years) and she said it's an extremely difficult city for a woman. She said she got tired of things being very competitive, thousands of young beautiful women arriving every year, desperate to have a break in show business. Lots of models/actresses, obsession with looks. She said whenever she went to a bar her self esteem would be low because of all the girls always being dressed to the nines with their tans and nails and high heels etc. And low quality of men who were obviously spoilt for choice.

Just wanted to know if it's true.

Absolutely. Don't even think about moving here unless you're a knock out perfect 10.

I'm sorry but you cannot have it both ways. You can't see yourself being less attractive then simultaneously reject men for being "low quality." Yes, there are a lot of beautiful people in Los Angeles. Yes, people do find it hard to date here. I honestly think it's hard to date for anybody after college; not just a region specific thing. But, there are 12,000,000 people in LA county, and we have apps that basically do the searching for you.

It's definitely true. I'm a woman and a native Angeleno, and we're ALL obsessed with how we look and what we eat. We make it s point to make transplants feel self-conscious, inferior, and uncomfortable. We are taught this from the time we can learn as children.

Haha, look, I understand that my question might seem stupid, but I'm not from US, never been to Cali, and after hearing this girl complain last night I just wanted to ask. That's it.

Your friend does not strike me as being particularly intelligent if she's looking for men of not "low quality" in a bar....

Cali is a city in Colombia.

I'm sure you realize how ignorant your question is and how much of a broad generalization the girl you met made. I feel like you shouldn't have felt the need to ask your question because it just doesn't make sense. I hear stereotypes about many places around the world, but I know well enough those stereotypes don't apply to every single person.

I've lived in NewYork city, Boulder CO, Phoenix, and have spent a lot of time in several other cities in the US.
The women in the L.A. are are noticeably more attractive. This is based on my observations and personal taste.

How do you find it in Nada?

I have never been to South America either.
