There aren't many bike lanes and drivers generally treat cyclists like a nuisance. I ride my bike around a lot but it's not the most relaxing experience.

OP should apply for city planner with all these earth shattering, life altering ideas.

LA County has 20,771.64 miles of public roads. 90% of that would = 18,694.48 miles.

Better suggest more than 'a few.'

Well LA isn't going to shed it's "pro car" mentality.

You want to ride a bike, go to a bike path. Or ride on side streets, away from busy traffic. Just for safety reasons it's a good idea.

You're in Orange County, are you going to ride a bike from there to downtown LA? Doubtful.

It's ridiculous when you see bike riders on roads where the speed limit is 35 or 40 mph, they can't possibly ride at that speed. They end up tying up traffic.

Imagine a car going along at 20mph, it is a ridiculous idea that "all lanes are bike lanes".

Because OP definitely mentioned LA County.

LA is LA County. You can't separate the city from the county in a discussion about infrastructure.

Yes, you can. How is this thread and one way streets relevant to Agoura Hills, Lancaster, and El Monte?

Some of the specific streets he mentioned run through cities other than LA.

In any event...even 90% of city streets being OW is a silly proposition.

You mean aside from major thoroughfares running through multiple cities and the various cities-within-cities being so completely intermingled?

I said shed "a lot". Obviously it's never going to completely lose that mentality.

Bikers wouldn't end up creating traffic if there were more designated bike lanes.

Never did I say replace vehicle lanes with bike lanes? Just noting that one way streets immensely favor cars. Why take side streets when we have a perfect linear urban corridor on Wilshire? Why don't we just throw it above grade, make it a freeway, and do away with pedestrian life altogether. That's what side streets are for right?

Ridiculous what kind of immense changes people ask for just so they can get to work 5 mins faster.
