i'm planning to move into the 90802 zip code-- off of cherry between 5th and 6th. any thoughts on this area?? it's close to the those hip 4th street stores. it seemed pretty quiet both during the day and even around 9pm on a friday night.

thanks.

That area in IMO isn't too bad. Long Beach is kinda of weird in that the neighborhood can change really quick. It is a close walk to the beach. There's a little rundown bar called the Reno Room I think, within walking distance

I've actually lived in Long Beach my whole life and there are still streets I've never heard of (including the street I'm planning to move to). Thanks for your input. I hope I can get a couple more replies so I can get a better picture of this area.

Some parts are busy and as you probably noticed, parking is tight. It looks like the businesses are trying to improve the area along 4th St. It depends on if you rent or buy. I would not want to live in an 8-unit apt complex there because it will probably be noisy when you want quiet.

I did notice that parking sucked, but the unit comes with 2 reserved parking spots in an underground lot. (My friends will have to fight for street parking when they visit, but that's their problem.) We'll only be renting, but there's about 40 units and most are owner-occupied.

Hmmm . . . I used to live close to corner of 6th and Redondo while in college. I believe Cherry is west of where I lived by a mile or two. And the farther west you go from where I used to live, the worse it got. Where you'll be living is probably bordering on the bad, crime-ridden area. I would not move to Cherry St. Move farther east if you can, live off of Redondo or Xiemeno.

Yes, live between Redondo and Ximeno and you'll be fine. Stay away from Cherry. What is the name of the street your looking at?
