I mean, I know LA has some struggles, but there's are struggle in other major cities too. People stereotype this city as the "Gang Capital of America". I mean, gang violence can happen anywhere.

What's up with everybody hating on LA? Why do so people want to leave the greatest city on the West Coast?

I try not to, but all the people on this forum are just talking about race issues and demograpics that's going on in LA. Can't let it get to me, or even discourage me.

It's just their opinion....Focus on all the Positives of living in L.A and it will overcome all the Negative Comments

Unfortunately, that image is perpetuated by Hollywood cinema and video games. I have a feeling many of the haters haven't even been to the LA area.

The positives outweigh the negatives in LA.

Sacramento or LA, which is better to live

I loved Los Angeles until I had kids, then I had to leave. Personally I would have rather lived in the Bay Area as it is prettier and more highly educated, but my career kept me in L.A.

This is my take on the situation. I've lived in Los Angeles twice both times for a period of 2 years. I grew up in Sacramento, CA attended undergrad in Wichita, Ks and grad school in Dallas, TX. I took me years to realize why I was never that into Los Angeles where a lot people I knew loved the place.

There are ammenities and a lifestyle Los Angeles provides that cannot be found anywhere else in country except in a few larger cities. 1. Entertainment - If you are there to work in this industry or make it big in this industry than there are few other options (New York, Chicago). 2. Weather of course. 3 The Beach.

The hardest thing for me to reconcile is the middle class lifestyle that I had grown accustomed to in the other cities was difficult to obtain in Los Angeles. In the cities that I had lived previously areas like Pasadena, Burbank, Culver City, Torrance, Sherman Oaks are the norm. They are considered middle class neighborhoods not unreachable communities with home prices over $600k. When I started to meet people from Compton, Watts, Inglewood, Crenshaw, Lynwood, I began to realize that these communities view their neighborhoods as middle class and the aforementioned communities as wealthy.

This is a very different outlook on the area. If you're used to the housing quality and lifestyle in these areas (South Central LA) or have the money to live in a nicer area than you will love LA. What's not to love?

I am not used to living in these type of communitis nor could I afford at the time to buy in one of the "nicer" communities and I didn't want to commute 2 hrs from the IE or Santa Clarita. So I said goodbye to the beach and the great weather and moved someplace where I felt more comfortable socially as well as financially.
