Can anybody recommend a retailer to purchase beef jerky on the cheap?

Enjoy Foods is a great local jerky company, based out of So Cal(Fontana), offers pretty inexpensive jerky when you compare per ounce to the national competition. i used to order by the case all the time off their website, but it seems it's been taken over by a spam company recently(enjoybeefjerky.com). They do market to local retailers. The number I have is (909) 823-2228. I imagine you can order over the phone.

Of course, Costco and Sams Club sell jerky as well, probably at the most competitive prices. Stores that market their own tend to be premium prices, but that is the price you pay for premium jerky.

I just bought a triple pack of Jack's Links teriyaki beef jerky for about $7. That's about as cheap as I've ever bought it.

I agree with bhcompy. Enjoy Foods (http://www.beefjerkystore.com/images/Copy%20of%20ENJHOTB8.JPG - broken link) makes great jerky. They're about the only American style jerky brand I like (I prefer the really dry & salty stuff). They're found at a lot of gas stations and grocery stores, but it's not exactly cheap.

However, if you like the more juicy and aromatic stuff, I would highly recommend checking out Chinese/Taiwanese beef and pork jerky (I prefer pork jerky, but that's just me). It's by far the best jerky I've ever come across (though I'm Taiwanese, so perhaps I'm biased). They're much more flavorful than the average American jerky (except for the homemade stuff, which is usually super expensive anyway) and usually cheaper too. Just searching online, you can find Chinese jerky for about $18~20/lb, whereas most American jerky--barring slim-jim-type dry sausages, which technically aren't jerky--is usually $30-60/lb.

As far as retailers, Chinese supermarkets like 99 Ranch will have them. If you want the brand name stuff, Hsin Tung Yang is the most famous Taiwanese brand, but they will naturally be more expensive. You can probably also find specialty stores in Chinatown that offer a wide variety of Chinese jerkies.

Thanks. I haven't seen it at the Costco on Washington Blvd. but I'll look the next time I'm there.

Yeah, that's probably not too difficult in a megalopolis such as Los Angeles.

BTW, those people alongside the freeway wearing orange vests aren't hunting...they're wearing an entirely different type of vest.

Beef and Pork Jerky?

I am a hunter here in The San Fernando Valley. I can do custom batches for you if you like. Heck, I can show you the best cuts of Pork, Beef, Fish to use. You buy meats and the ingredients and I'll have ya over to show ya how to do it! We can do small 10 to 15 pound batches all the way up to 100 lb batch at a time. Ain't hard once you get the hang of it.

Been making Jerky for twenty eight years and I think I got the hang of it.

DM me if you have any interest on saving money and eating the BEST Jerky you will ever put in yer yapper.
