I felt it in Long Beach. I heard a "roaring" sound, too...could it be from the quake? Maybe a big truck was passing by at the same time...

Recent Earthquakes for 119-34

Very close to Northridge. Just felt a few seconds of shaking in Monterey Park.

My mom (Calabasas) and my wife's mom (Agoura Hills) were talking to each other on the phone when it hit. My mom said it was a north to south motion....but what the heck does a 86 year old lady know.

I was talking on the phone, and we both paused for a second until the shaking subsided, then went back to talking. Everyone who lives here knows that anything under a 5.0 doesn't really count.

The thing is, at first you don't know whether that mild earthquake is a mild one close by or a killer quake 150 miles away.
