How do you know Calif will have the big one this year?

Well in the land of tremors, claiming that they get a "bigger" one than 4.0 is expected. Now saying it is a 7.0 or bigger is something different, otherwise you are in the realm of a snake oil salesman.

I can say with great certainty the same thing and get a hit. Naming a date and time is impressive and would make you famous too!

But for now, you are a nutcase on a corner with a sign claiming the world ends tommorow... Day after day! Odds are one day you maybe right, then what?

Pay no attention to him. He doesn't understand the science of Seismology (the study of earthquakes). He thinks Seismologists can accurately predict earthquakes and real Seismologists will admit that they wish they could but they can't.

The best they can do is give a broad estimate of where quakes are likely to happen in the next 20-30 years.
