Are there any that exist? My brother has a 12 year old daughter and is looking to send her to a private, non-religious, co-ed high school. He lives in Long Beach, so ideally, it should be around the area. North Orange County would also suffice.

where in LB? There is always a group of residents in Naples that send their kids to Chadwick. Typically they hire private bus transportation to and from Naples/Chadwick.

Not too many non-religious options in this area. And the religious options are usually better academically than the public options in the areas they reside.

I am pretty sure GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community will provide high schools and data (especially for public schools) within a certain radius of an address. So, go to Greatschols and do an advanced search and filter out the public schools. I usually stick all that into Excel.

The private school I attended in my youth was religious (Catholic & sort of liberal) but not exclusive to members of that religion. The curriculum has v-a-s-t-l-y improved. I don't know if it's still non-exclusive. It is or at least was an all girl school. I hated it but almost everyone else seemed to love it. Sabrina LeBeauf is an alumna. She thrived there, but it was in Huntington Park in the '70's when we were there.

It's now located in Downey. St. Matthias High School merged with St. Pius X (wierd but true.... Pius was a school 10 times better than SM). The merge probably had to do with assets & getting the heck out of HP.

It's a Catholic school. If you're interested, I'll send you a link. It's located in Downey.

Or you can check out this catholic high school in Downey

Pius X / St. Matthias High School, Downey, California

ha ha, I went to Chaminade, a catholic High School in West Hills (class of 1979). I'm a recovering catholic now. I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with those saints.

I'm sure your schools curriculum was 10 times better. We had no driver's ed, only 2 languages (French/Spanish) & no cafeteria. Most of the boys who showed up for theatrical projects were gay. That was okay but did nothing for broadening my prospects. Was your school all boys?

I'm from the class of '77. Coulda been the class of '78 if my mom hadn't been so hasty to get me outta the house.

In the west San Fernando Valley, Crespi was all boys, Louisville was all girls (though I attended a co-ed kindergarten there 1966-67) and Chaminade was co-ed after 1972 I think.
