Particularly if it is a Volvo. But even a Volvo can burst into flames with passengers trapped inside. Like what happened in Manitoba Canada the other year on some remote highway when a Volvo got T-boned with some random SUV.

Airbags? Many cars don't have airbags. Do we stop driving classic cars because they don't have an airbag? If I wanted an airbag I would have married a differant girl. lol

'10 Merc CL65....arguably safest car on planet...and one of most addictive cars for daily driving and wkend driving in Malibu cyns

If short of cash, would get a new C300 or E350

Driving is one's riskiest daily activity; would spend on safest poss cars over luxuries like new TVs or vacations or pets, etc

Gotta disagree Charles. Bigger is not always safer. 4 years ago my mom was in her 2001 Honda CRV when some old man ran a stoplight and broadsided her at approx 45MPH. Hit her so hard her glasses were found about 50 ft away on a sidewalk. She had seatbelt burns/bruises but she was released from ER the same night. the old man? He was driving a early 90's F-250. His truck and my moms CRV were both totalled. He remained in the hospital for some time.
The Police attribute the Honda's strong inner beams and all the airbags to saving her life. Nobody really knows, ya know? But that old myth of bigger cars being safer is misleading.
