Yeah, the prices were shocking. I go to one next to a movie theater, and the burgers are almost as expensive as a movie ticket, haha.

I've read that in n out pays their employees above mininum wage, and in n out managers can make a lot of money...they sure have an efficient operation. I think if someone was visiting la and wanted the best burger here, I'd take them to in n out.

Fatburgers are too charred and spicy (just with lettuce, mayonnaise and cheese) to eat all the time.

Price wise I would go with In & Out, but I do like Fat Burgers better. Granted they are no where as good as they used to be, the quality has gone down.

They have always been a little more pricey, but the last 10 years they are way over priced.

BTW Fat Burger use a spicy relish, and not just lettuce, and cheese. They also offer an option of egg on top, and chili as well.

I like both, though I slowly phased out of In N Out at some point. Fatburger was convenient to eat at during my lunch breaks in Santa Monica... In N Out had the best shakes originally, but everyone else has kind of stepped it up since then... Fatburger shakes are good too, but everything on their menu is over priced. The only 'perk' about Fatburger is that they have a stamp card... 10 stamps/burgers and you get one free...

Oh and as far as employment, according to their website In N Out associates start at $10/hr and managers make a little less than $100k/yr on average.

I hate In and Out. I'm probably the only Californian to say that, but I don't get the hype at.all. Their fries are mushy and boring. Gross. Their burgers are meh and they put WAY too much onion and I love onion. The only thing I like there is the vanilla shake, but it's usually way too thick you have to eat it with a spoon. I do like Fatburger, but I agree it's way overpriced.

Their prices seem to be double in and out, but their burgers aren't twice as big. It must be one of the most expensive fast food places in la. Why are they so high? A family of four eating there, with two kingburgers, two regular burgers, 4 drinks and maybe a snack...like $30-35??

I think I could eat in-n-out more often, it'd be hard to eat fatburger everyday.
Some of the Fatburger restaurants have closed down..Yes, the price is considerably more, which has been my point all along..Talking about fast food at a decent price is what makes In N Out so popular, it is all about bang for the buck..Of course they are not the same as a $7.50 burge. You seem to be one of those that realize this; I don't think anyone can argue with us, In and Out is the place for a cheap burger...

I eat In N Out burgers occasionally, but my aversion is mostly due to how long it takes to get through the @#$% drive-through line, which is usually out into the street!
Taking time to get through the lines is a clue to how popular IN N Out is...

JDCrasher, I don't think anyone said anything about how good or bad Fatburber shakes are, the referrance was to the burgers..

You really shouldn't be eating at fatburger or in N out everyday, it's not good for you. Once in a while okay, but not everyday. Haven't you ever seen "Super size me"?

most of us don't eat there everyday, I think we are just comparing the two, not suggesting we make either place our permanent food supply.
