We won't be there for the Woodland games either, but we'll watch on TV. I wouldn't mind going but the 9 year old who spends the better part of his days off running around outside (and in sometimes too!) protests greatly to being cooped up--2 morning games at the auditorium, then a little shopping, eating out, goofing off at the bookstore, then back to the auditorium....well, it's not his idea of a good day! If we hadn't gotten most of the geocaches in the Bangor area we could do that....hmmm, might still be an idea for the newer ones though! Anyway, I digress....

I like it when Calais plays Lee. Last year Calais boys was a fun team to watch, and the year before too. They *appeared* as though they were flying by the seat of their pants, and the games were fast moving. This year the game *appears* more calculated--less driving the ball and going with that upbeat tempo than in the past...it's good in that it's shown that we have a change in playing styles and the coach is working with those styles....BUT, it doesn't make for the exciting basketball games that I've grown to love. The team that switches that up for Calais this year has been Lee. Lee likes that faster, driving style that makes the games fun to watch, and really gets the crowd going too. For me, that's the fun of high school basketball--along with the community support and pride! I'm looking forward to the game tonight, and while obviously I'd like to see Calais win, I just want to see a good game!!

From the time the Lee kids are in school they shoot baskets during their lunch hour. Nearly all of them play in junior high. After basketball season they run the roads. They literally run the roads until the snow is gone. Then they play softball followed by soccer. These kids run year round. Some will cross country ski around the lake. That's six miles. Aarica got her 1,000th point at the tourney.

Not to brag or anything, but the Lee Academy kids often win the state mathematics championship too.

So are you going? should I look for your hat?

PS---I don't think it's bragging that you mention that! It's a job well done and they should be recognized, talked about, and definitely bragged about

The Woodland girls won the state Class D title last night. The boys lost their state game but were given the sportsmanship banner last night.

Wednesday night's game should be excellent. Calais vs Lee! Go Calais!
