I didn't see it but it is still talked about around here. Local business was hauling off their chicken manure. Driver of one truck had to slam on his brakes for a stoplight and the load "splashed" over onto the road and into the cab. Happened in Auburn right by Kmart. They had to plow and sand the road, in the middle of summer.

Definitely not one I'd want to see. It smells bad enough when they haul their loads by here in the summer. I definitely will not miss that! And, we've researched to make sure we won't end up in another town with an egg farm.

We went up Stillwater Road to Bangor today. Didn't realize it was a carnival ride now. We came back by the highway.

I remember when I was in college how bad that road would get! Holy cow....and it would flood too! I think it used to be built on logs, but I can't remember for sure.

They used to call them corduroy roads.

I traveled the Airline road in 1990. It was undergoing a massive redo. About halfway out, I saw the sign, road ends. Right in the middle of where the road should be was a D9 cat and other heavy equipment in the roadbed. The road had a detour to the left, which of course was Maine gravel. Thank goodness this was in the day and the weather was great. When Maine says road ends, they aren't kidding. Never a detour sign, just road ends. The last time I did the airline, in July, it was wonderful! Made it in 2:15 from Bangor to Eastport. My wife (MenME) says, we were a flying.
