Need Eastport Info
Greetings. While scouting Due East RE website,a house at #31 Shackford St. caught my attention. Unfortunately while my wife and I were vacationing over Labor Day we did not venture down many side streets in town. Hopefuly you can give me some insight on Shackford and neighboring streets. We're looking for a quiet not to busy street. I'm concerned that a VFW Post is at #32.
Any input will be appreciated.

The old VFW hall is actually on Key street, and there is nothing like that on Shackford. While there is an American Legion hall on Green street I think, and there is no new VFW hall in Eastport . The old hall just sold recently I understand. That location on Shackford is a few blocks from everywhere, smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Most of the neighbors are year round residents, except the couple across the street who spend about 15 months in Alaska and then come back every other winter. He is a very fine poet named Tom Sexton and his books are available on Amazon. #33 is under contract with a couple of forumites who are looking for neighbors.

I guess they meet at that house, also at the Blue Iris and out on the Breakwater. #32 is a private house where Mr Lodge lives, I believe with his mother. I just punched in "Tom Sexton Poetry" and came up with some beautiful poems "Autumn in the Alaska Range...

Seriously, Peter and bgrasser, there have been several discussions on Eastport as many of the regular posters live there or are attempting to get there(unfortunately, I am in the latter). Can I ask what brought you to Eastport in the first place?

Well, a chance for me to see the real world. I'm tired with living on Nantucket Island. Besides, I was born in Maine.
