Default Thinking about moving to Presque Isle

Hello all!

I am from New York and I lived there since I was 13, but I am currently living in Key West, Florida and I absolutely HATE it. I hate the hot weather and I just really loathe Florida in general.

I have been to Maine a few times and I love it there. I have never been to Presque Isle, but I am very interested in going to college there and getting a small apartment.

Could someone people tell me if it's a nice place to live, and what apartment prices are like?

I know lots of people say Maine is a very rural place with nothing to do, but I like that about it.

Also, if you know anything about Bangor, ME please tell me all you can!

Presque Isle and its surrounding area are just what many have called it " Gods Country" actualy I refer to Aroostock County as being just that..
My wife and I lived in Southern Aoostock towns of Amity,Hodgdon and Houlton for around 12 years .
If Florida has the heat , Northern Me. has the snow 6mos out of the year "short summers" ....

Full time jobs were always in short demand and very hard to come by if at all for the men.
Lumber and farming are their best revenue source .

I do not know what it is like today in the job market .

If you are going to school there "great" Univ. of PI ....Housing cost unknown , " sorry " ..

I love Presque Isle. Quiet, small town. Very nice people. Safe community. Absolutely gorgeous country.

If you don't like cold weather and you're not good at entertaining yourself, you might look elsewhere though. We were there in April two years ago. It started snowing around sunset. We woke up the next morning to 14 inches of fresh snow. In April! But by 9 am all the roads were clear.

There's a few good restaurants, a very small mall with a bookstore, and a whole lot of God's country. But not much else. As I said, you've got to be good at entertaining yourself. There's not much nightlife, and last I heard, there wasn't even a movie theater in town anymore.

Bangor is great!

Bangor also has a college, and is very close to Orono!

What kind of stuff do you like to do?
