Sanford,ME: 52 (2000). 209 (2010)
Waterville,ME: 119 (2000). 421 (2010)

Maine's Black population at large has increased from 6,760 in 2000 to 15,154 in 2010.

With Immigration the way it is these numbers are a little skewed... Lewiston in particular has a very large population of people who consider themselves to be "other".... But I would guess most of them would still be considered black..

I would easily put Lewistons black population in the 4k to 6k range..

I thought that was including the Somali population in Lewiston. In that case, Maine's Black population might be even higher.

It should, but it clearly does not account for all.. Just lewiston's english as a second language program, which is mostly children, have 1000 enrolled..

As far as this thread is concerned I also though do not think Somali's, bantu's ect... reflect the "African AMERICAN" culture...

There might have been some irregularities in my research project the more that I think about it. African-Americans and White Americans have more in common with one another than Somalis and African-Americans have with one another. When I looked up the data, it just mentioned the Black population. I didn't see it broken down by Black ethnicity(Nigerian, African-American,Jamaican,etc). If that is the case, I might want to do this project again, not for a grade, but for my own reasons, for something more correct.
