Yeah, quite a few here. Sounds like you want to join the local VFW and American Legion.

VFW would be ok ... I've been active with the DAV; they seem to need us more

Where is the closest VFW? DAV?

VFW Hall is in Eastport. Nearest DAV Post is in Calais.

There's an American Legion post in Eastport (on Green Street, I believe).

The American Legion sold there building. Cost were too much and building in some disrepair. The VFW building has been sold a few times and is up for sale again. Legion and the VFW (I believe) both meet at the Youth Center building now. On the corner of Staniels and County Road.

I chose the American Legion. In my experience they are much more welcoming of Vietnam vets.

Hats off to any of you guys who served in Vietnam. Sort of an orphan war, nobody wanted, but somebody had to go. I lost many high school classmates! I salute you NMLM, and any Viet Vet! My wife lost her first husband in Vietnam.

Thanks Robert for your expertise, and eagle eye view of Eastport!

The Legion more friendly than the VFW? the VFW is hurting for membership esp. since they backed W and his wars

Different towns and different posts may vary. In my area the Post is still running and the VFW closed down.

There is an old saying on Cape Breton Island. "Throw a rock over yer shoulder and ye gots a 50/50 chance a hitt'n a fiddler". They have a whole lot of fiddlers on the rock.

The asme could be said in Maine about veterans. Maine has the highest percentage of veterans in the entire nation.
