Can anyone give me details about the Cape Saint Claire/Atlantis area of Annaoplis? What is the general opinion about this area? Is it desireable? Not desireable?

How are the schools?

Are there pockets of bad crime?

Thanks!

George

Cape St Clair is a sleepy, and very nice little town across the severn river from Annapolis. For a family, it is close to perfect. There are community pools and beaches, very good schools and very little crime. It's about 10-15 minutes away from annapolis city, which is a good thing. Annapolis city proper high school has failed no child left behind standards for I believe the 4th or 5th year, so the entire faculty was fired and then asked to reapply for their old jobs. The best teachers left for better paying surrounding areas and the mediocre and new teachers remained. But it's not the teachers faults as the city has the highest number of public housing projects per capita of any small town and our murder rate is probably in the top 100 for small cities (8 for a town of 38,000). Cape St Clair doesn't have any of these issues, and you can enjoy the good schools and travel to annapolis and enjoy a huge newly expanded shopping mall, the very cute historic district, the nice sailing community and surprizing amount of multicultural events and then return to the Cape.

The area of Anne Arundel County you described are close to several of the best elementary, middle and high schools in Maryland. Crime is not a critical issue in either of these communities as everyone is a solid middle class hard working family. Broadneck High School is one of the best
