We currently live in a small town 30 miles north of boston off rt. 95 i love the small town life style, but it can be isolating.
Would love to hear feedback about living in plymouth in this area. How are the housing costs right now???
Safety???
Anything else that i may not know of, since i don't know the southshore very well at all.

Have you consider Hamilton MA in North Shore? It is a big horse riding community.

I own a small horse farm in Metrowest MA. Horse properites that are reasonable priced and in good locations are hard to find. What specific areas are you interested in? Do you need to commute to Boston daily? Other areas to look at, Norfolk, Wrentham, Plainville, Mendon, Upton, Uxbridge, Sutton. Nice towns, less expensive than Hamilton, Dover, Sherborn, Harvard, Littleton. Good horse communites, etc.

As much as I loved Newburyport (and. Years ago went to college on the north shore), I loved the south shore for that same reason..we felt a bit isolated. There is so much to do on the south shore (especially with children) that I did not find n the north shore nearly as much. With the Cape and Providence only an hour away..we loved it (we just moved down south). Plymouth is a big diversified town...not "exclusive" like a Hamilton or Hingham, but it has everything from million dollar homes to $100k homes. Chiltonville (a section of Plymouth) is where the horse farms are located...not that there are too too many but there are some beautiful ones. There is still land in Plymouth that is undeveloped which is a rarity anywhere outside of Boston these days. Plymouth is suffering like anyone else when it comes to real estate..they buys have always been pretty good to begin with. Even my girlfriend who had her oceanfront home on the market for $1.8 million, settled to sell for $1m....quite a price drop. I think you will tend to find better deals in Plymouth than say Hingham or Hamilton.
