Help! Moving from duxbury. Husband took job in northfield we are looking at 2 towns in different areas longmeadow and westford. We have4 kids so schools are really important. So nervous and would love input on either or both towns. Thanks!

Northfield, MA is in Franklin County the northern part of the Connecticut River Valley. Is that the town you mean? If so, Longmeadow is 54 miles away. Much too far away to commute, IMO.
If you mean Westfield instead of Westford, it is 52 miles away. Certainly you can find good towns closer to the job. Amherst and Northampton are worth considering. Hadley also had a highly-regarded middle/high school, the Hopkins Academy. Northfield also has the private Northfield/Mount Hermon School. You do not have to commute over 50 miles to find good schools.

If you are really steadfast on those two towns I would go with Longmeadow for the simple fact of 91 being right there.

I'm still hoping the OP will clarify where the job is. To add to the confusion, there is a town of Westford, but it is 65 miles from Northfield. I wondered if she meant the job was in
Spring field. Then, Longmeadow would make sense. It is a very nice town with high-end real estate.

Northfield, MA is in Franklin County the northern part of the Connecticut River Valley. Is that the town you mean? If so, Longmeadow is 54 miles away. Much too far away to commute, IMO.
