I'd love to hear more suggestions -- especially in the MetroWest area!
One thing about where we were in PA was that there were tons of farms with pumpkins, hayrides, cider donuts, and corn mazes. I'd be okay with a place that just had pumpkins and cider donuts. Or even just cider donuts.
Shelburne Farm in Stow! Very nice orchard, friendly staff, kids activities. Not too expensive either. I also have been to Honeypot ...it's nice but can get very, very crowded!
We've done look out farms in Natick for apples which was very expensive. They charge a $9 per person admission and then you also pay for what you pick.
True. Lookout is more expensive. For me though, it's a super short ride compared to a farm in the Stowe area. So I save a lot of drive time and gas which is huge. Plus my kids love the "train" and the playground exhibit every orchard has.

Agreed. Honeypot is very crowded. Carlson is a great alternative.
In addition to the other good suggestions, Tougas Farms in Northborough. Cider donuts are to die for.
Looking for some smaller, low-key places Clearview and Meadowbrook both in Sterling are nice. Meadowbrook is a good place to grab lunch, as well.
I was also confused about the kid friendly requirement. Kind of like asking for a kid friendly Chuck E Cheese.
When we lived out of state the last place we went apple picking was solely just picking apples. Kind of lame and kids got bored about 10 minutes in. So a place with hay rides, activities for kids and things of that nature are what I'm interested in.
I really would check out Shelburne Farm in Stow (not Stowe), I'm surprised no one else is telling you about it.
I've been to Lookout in Natick, it's fun as well but more money.
Honeypot doesn't have quite as many kids activities but is fun as well. It gets very crowded.
I'd pick one of these as they meet your criteria, kid activities and family friendly😃
