I can do anything around a home. Electric, plumbing, gas, etc. but all can be harmful/dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. Replacing an appliance without having to change any "runs" is home repair 101 and anyone short of a fool can do it. Making new runs (electrical, water, gas, etc.) can get tricky and best left to an experienced person, not a beginner.

Other way around, but I've run into inspectors who (wrongly) refuse to grant a homeowner their own electrical permit.

Anything to do with plumbing requires a permit and a licensed contractor. Even changing a toilet

You make it sound easy.....but I wish I took pictures of some of the homeowner electrical and plumbing work I've come across over the years.

The youtube videos make changing a receptacle look so easy....until you pull of that plate and find 1950's BX wiring with cloth covered insulators disintegrating inside a metal box with no space.
