I'm not familiar with most towns in MA. I wouldn't mind living in MA, but the main reason I'm looking into it is because my wife wants to live there. I prefer CT because I grew up there and seems way more affordable. All the houses I see on Zillow for around $350k, when I look up the city on it says the cities have high crime and/or bad schools. So am I missing something? I don't care what area of MA it is, I just want to find a decent sized home in a safe town with good schools for up to $350k. Is that possible in MA?

In Western Mass., sure. South Coast, Central Mass., possibly but the inventory is super tight and will be a challenge. Maybe wait a few months for the market to cool down. Inside 495, forget it.

It all depends on what your standards are for good schools, decent size, and safe town. You also need to realize you are competing against a large buyer base that wants the exact same thing.

For $350K however, you are looking at Western MA, or South Coast area like Fall River, or some of the sleepy towns outside 495 off the beaten path. If you can WFH it would be idea, otherwise your commute might be a bit lengthy.

I'm surprised you didn't say anything about access to physical work or health care...

all wrong, inside 495 with good schools, safe town, a little weird location, but walkable to downtown/commuter rail etc.

I guess I was! Definitely a rare find though. Save for some major issues we could be missing, I suspect that will be gone tomorrow.
