Hi all.
My family is coming over from Australia to visit and will be renting RVs to travel around and we need to find a good campground in or very close to Memphis for New Years Eve.

I have found some online but know nothing about good or bad parts of town.

Also any suggestions as to interesting things(beyond the normal touristy things) would be appreciated.

What did you find online? I know the casinos down in Tunica, MS have RV lots (about 45 min from downtown Memphis).

The Agricenter in the Cordova/Germantown area (east of Memphis) has RV parking and it's in a very nice and safe area.

We looked at several located in Memphis:
Memphis-Graceland RV Park & Campground

Elvis Presley Blvd RV Park (http://www.elvispresleyblvdrvpark.com/index.htm - broken link)

We would like to be able to walk around as there are 5 adults and two children.

No. Anything near Graceland and Elvis Presley Blvd is a very dangerous area of town. Not safe, period. Nothing down there for you to go to either.

Oh my, no. You don't want to stay in that area at all. That is a very rough area and definitely not what you want to do. I understand you'll likely wish to visit Graceland. In that case, you'll want to drive over to Graceland and stay elsewhere.

Okay from y'alls posts and looking into it all a little more we might stay outside of Memphis and simply drive in.

Thanks for the heads up and especially for the idea of staying in Tunica,I looked at Sam's Town and think THAT would be great fun for my family...They would get a kick out of the big buffet.
