Does anyone know what I can do? I was prescribed 1mg of risperidone to take twice daily since 2018. It helped me massively with autism and transitent psychosis. I was also on Brintellix and Xanax for anxiety.

COVID really messed me up and after losing my job, I could no longer afford the medicines. The psychiatrist says he can't do anything besides prescribe me the generic versions of the antipsychotic/anti-anxiety meds.

Have you looked at using GoodRx coupons ?

https://www.goodrx.com/risperidone

https://www.goodrx.com/brintellix (apparently discontinued by the maker)

https://www.goodrx.com/alprazolam (generic Xanax)

Thanks but I live in Ireland so the GoodRX site is available here

The terrible thing is that both meds only cost around €25 for a months supply yet I can't afford them at this time.

Ask your psychiatrist if there are public assistance programs in your country that enable patients to get necessary medications. I doubt there are many C-Ders who live there so we probably don't know what resources you might have available. Also consider contacting the pharmaceutical companies that produce the meds you use. Many provide discount/assistance programs. A pharmacist might know of some too.

What is wrong with the generics? Have you tried them before and experienced any issues?

I'm confused about whether the problem is lack of funds period or lack of funds to get the non-generic brands? Are you able to get the generics through medicaid with your state?

I have no issue with the generics, it's just the lack of funds?

I live in Europe (Ireland) btw not the States.
