That gives me great comfort these days, as I sit and ponder some of those days now, a lot. It was a one of a kind time in the Grove. I made hand-carved candles in the Candlemakers shop on Bayshore for years and we kept the shop open all night to make stock. So many of the musicians from across the street at the Mutiny would find us playing guitars and singing and join us for a bit. We were buzzed 24/7. Such good times. We were a jazz music bunch and one of our favorites was LeJardin with Joe Donato's band. I would close most nights at Tobacco Road as it closed at 0500. SUCH GOOD MEMORIES!

I have to agree, the Grove was the place I went in the 70's and it WAS fun. I was in the Candlemakers Shop, got my clogs at the clog shop, the health food store was the only one around and I still have my African trading beads I bought way back when. When I go to Asheville it reminds me a little of how the Grove was way back when.

Does anyone remember the bar in Miami called 13 buttons? Later called Disco 13. It was alongside a pier I believe. I'm trying to find the address where it was located.

Indeed, also a lot pier fishing. It was like a star trek episode as it was a yiddish speaking Jewish city were you could buy 50 different kinds of gefilte fish, fascinating. A very important source of income were German reparations as many suffered the shoah, so when the Germany currency fell there was a great panic.

i used to go to studebakers all the time, especially on sundays for the seafood buffet. what a fun place, watching the bartenders and waitresses get up on the bar and dance to some great tunes from charley the dj. we used to sit in the car behind the dj booth and order drinks. they dont make plces like that anymore. what a shame it was great entertainment
