Is Mr. John Hawkins a doctor/scientist to insist on his definition of what transgenderim is or is not? And if he apparently is not, then why would we trust his private uneducated opinion, especially in the part that the treatment "won't fix it"?

He is neither a doctor nor a scientist. John Hawkins was born January 12, 1972, is a conservative blogger and columnist. He has published columns in several newspapers. He owns the conservative blog Right Wing News, and Linkiest and is co-owner of The Looking Spoon.

He appears to have zero time in the U.S. Military...

Can you shoot straight? Can you carry your weight? Can you do your job? Can you follow orders? If you can answer Yes to these 4 questions, I have no problem fighting next to you.

Statement by Secretary of Defense Ash Carter on DOD Transgender Policy

Some points from the release:
The Defense Department's current regulations regarding transgender service members are outdated and are causing uncertainty that distracts commanders from our core missions.

Moreover, we have transgender soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines - real, patriotic Americans - who I know are being hurt by an outdated, confusing, inconsistent approach that's contrary to our value of service and individual merit.

Today, I am issuing two directives to deal with this matter. First, DoD will create a working group to study over the next six months the policy and readiness implications of welcoming transgender persons to serve openly.

Second, I am directing that decision authority in all administrative discharges for those diagnosed with gender dysphoria or who identify themselves as transgender be elevated to Under Secretary Carson, who will make determinations on all potential separations.

we must treat all our people with the dignity and respect they deserve.

This is coming from the *top* down and will be set in stone policy before current administration leaves office.
