I've never been to either one.
But what are some differences and similarities between the 2 places?

Pretty much all I know about the metro is its huge in both pop and area. St. Paul is the smaller one, minniapolis is a mecca for the arts and it gets really cold there.

Inform me.

Another thread like this? Why not search for an old thread?

Sounds like your not too proud of your hometown.
Leaves me with the impression it has nothing to offer outside of ballet and snow.

That doesn't make any sense. How does telling you to look up an old thread have anything to do with my pride in the TC?

One similarity between St. Paul and Minneapolis is that residents of both know the difference between "your" and "you're."

What eastside38 really means to say is that this topic has been debated a lot on these forums. If you use search, you'll find probably 100 topics with a lot of replies...likely more than you'll get on this thread. So if you're really curious, that might be the best option.

Both cities are great! We may be called the Twin Cities and a baseball team called the Twins but the Cities are not close to being Twins.

Saint Paul has a more Pittsburgh feel to it. Hilly with the Mississippi river valley to the south of downtown. The downtown is much smaller and more older looking with its old brick buildings. Saint Paul is very hard working and blue collar. Also a large Hmong population (larger than mpls)

Minneapolis is unique in its own way. Very hard to compare to other cities. But its much more busy more traffic. ALOT to do. Most of the Sports teams play in MPLS. The skyline is much newer looking with its glass buildings. Minneapolis doesn't have as much Hmong but more Somali's than Saint Paul.

The main similarity is the scenic areas and parks. The lakes in Saint Paul and Minneapolis both have beautiful lakes with parks surrounding them and very fun experience with all the people walking around the lakes in the summer.

The cities don't have much of a rivalry. the only trash talk you hear is (Saint Paul resident) "ugh i dont wanna go to Minneapolis too much traffic" (Minneapolis resident) "ugh these downtown Saint Paul streets are confusing why do i always get lost when i hear"

St Paul is where Conservatives live, Mpls is where Liberals live. St Paul is Kansas City, Mpls is Seattle. St Paul is where people move to settle down and raise a family, Mpls is where those kids move to once they get out of the house. You get the gist. Also, not to offend but use the search feature as mentioned & you'll find hundreds of pages on this topic. Best of luck.

While Minneapolis certainly has a more liberal vibe, both cities are overwhelmingly "blue".

I would not call St. Paul conservative by any stretch. Maybe the northern suburbs or Stillwater, but St. Paul? St. Paul also attracts its own bunch of youngsters

Inform me.

Mpls- more business orientated, hipsters, better nightlife if your into the bar/clubbing scene. Has the U of M (one of the largest universities in the U.S.), much better downtown.

St. Paul- more working class, more neighborhood atmosphere, nice sit down bars, has its share of young people with the many colleges. Less exciting downtown but many nice neighborhoods. Large asian population (Hmong).

The differences don't matter so much though because the cities literally touch each other and you can easily get from one area of one city to another area of the other in less than 30 minutes (more like 10 minutes or less.)
