Ahhh, the irony of someone shouting racism for no reason while attaching racist stereotypes.

In nice neighborhoods people look out for one another and call the police whenever they see something that looks out of the ordinary. In crappy neighborhoods people don't know their neighbors and won't talk to the cops. I know which I'd rather live in.

Didn't meant to start a huge argument. Next time everyone get stopped and they question us, We should ask "Why do I look Mexican."

All your unnecessary references to race would indicate that you are trying to start a "huge argument."

Cops aren't the smartest or most discerning people, but they can usually tell if you're an asian or a mexican, unless you're filipino.

The cop was just doing his/her job by answering the neighbor's call. I blame this on the nosy passive aggressive neighbor who thinks they are doing the neighborhood good but are really just wasting city resources and making a passerby feel unwelcome. A few years ago while walking through the Standish neighborhood (S. Mpls) my wife and I saw an older woman inside her home point at us angrily and knock loudly on her front window as we briefly stopped to admire the woodwork of her front entrance door (we were in the market for one at the time). By the way, we never left the sidewalk leading up to her reaction. We both decided that she was a cranky old bag and continued on our way.

My take is that sadly this type of thing happens from time-to-time and it I'm sure it can happen in almost any neighborhood.

We've had a rash of daytime burglaries in this area lately. Given the OP's behavior (looking up the driveways), the neighbor's suspicions were not unfounded.

Ok so instead of attempting to engage in a friendly chat with him to find out what he was doing he/she hid in their home and called the police? This is passive/aggressive in my book.

And exactly how would that conversation go?

Neighbor: Hi there. What are you doing?
OP: How is that any of your business?
Neighbor: Well, we've had some break ins in the neighborhood and I wondered if you were a burglar.
OP: I'm not.
Neighbor: Ok, thanks.
OP: No problem. I'm happy to answer strangers'
questions about my activities.

You guys are kidding yourselves if you think engaging a person in a "friendly chat" is really going to reveal any suspicious behavior. You all keep ignoring the fact that the OP was acting just as a burglar would. I'm glad I gave more responsible neighbors.
