I wouldn't wish such violence on any law-abiding person. I've been a crime victim a few times. And this happened in the suburbs. I've been jumped by multiple persons. Scary to say the least.

Which suburbs here in the Twin Cities did this happen?

Not in the Twin Cities, the Atlanta area. In specific, Cobb County and Paulding County.

I came to this thread because..
1) I found this same subject in Politics and Other Controversies forum.
2) I have the Twin Cities on my short list of places I've considering moving to. I have some family there.
3) I can relate to been victimized by violence.
4) I wonder , as a Black male, how much I might have to deal with a bad reputation and how much it might affect me there relative to the Atlanta area or Huntsville(where I currently live).

Cities need public transportation. I don't see how a good public transportation system is a liberal policy.
This is true. LRT did not bring crime. Crime existed long before LRT and it was facilitated by the bus, cars and bicycles.

I was in downtown Minneapolis four years ago, seemed completely safe then, even at night. But, there’s been multiple threads in the politics forum about crime in Minneapolis over the past few weeks. Is it just sensationalism or what?

I have a bit of experience to confirm the point. My story happened in the suburbs of the Atlanta area. I had just gotten off work one nights. 3 guys jumped me and stole some money from me. I was on foot. They had a car. They didn't by bus or train. They had a car and used it to commit a crime. And this didn't happen in the inner city of Atlanta. This was near a gated apartment complex. It was is a nice suburban area with a very low crime rate.

It depends when and where you go downtown. The corridor along Hennepin between the library and about 7th Street is where most of the trouble is centered. After 10 or 11 PM on a weekend, this area can be like the dystopian Hill Valley in Back to the Future II.

However on a warm sunny Sunday, Downtown East, especially by the river and Stone Arch Bridge is like heaven on earth.

The fact that the problems are so concentrated to one area makes the problem all the more infuriating. More than one Minneapolis Police Officer has told me they could fix the problem tomorrow if they had the political support to do so. They don't.

The Mayor is a windy, spineless child and the city council is full of out of touch radicals who probably believe they're making the world a better place, all while destroying our city.

It's in a small area at the moment. Now is the perfect time to do something about it, before it spreads.
